The Council of Forest Industries, Northern Operations, Forest Education Program annually provides one $1000 scholarship in memory of Robert Stewart, one of the many pioneers who helped build the forest industry in central BC.
R. W. (Bob) Stewart came to the Prince George area to work in the forest industry for 5 years; but ended up making it his home for 61 years. Bob believed that this area provided great opportunities; the industry was constantly changing - forest policy, technology and people. Bob’s interests were primarily in the people at the mills (Lakeland, Apollo, Winton, Nechako, L&M Lumber, Tl’oh, and Spruce Capital Homes) where he was an owner. Bob supported many non-profit organizations; was Chairman of the College of New Caledonia and served on many COFI committees, including Chairman of COFI-North.
